Steve was born and raised in Louisville, KY. A 1978 graduate of Trinity High School, Steve proceeded on to Speed Engineering School. At that time, he and his partner Paul had already started Lawnco and due to their personalized care and prompt service had a number of established clients.

A combined love of landscaping and pride of having founded an accomplished fledgling business lead him to divert his full energy and effort in the development of a full service landscape company to provide a one stop shop providing all services one might need to maintain their lawn and landscape.

Steve’s drive and energy combined with his years of landscape knowledge and pursuit of premium service has blossomed into what is now a local Louisville brand Lawnco.

Paul was born and raised in Louisville, KY. He is a 1977 graduate of Wagner High School. Paul’s work ethic and desire to succeed were a natural fit for an unstoppable partnership with Steve. Paul’s knowledge of machinery and talents with equipment helped produce a partnership that would work circles around the competition.

As a fledgling business was evolving, he and Steve recognized a wonderful opportunity to develop a business that was then absent in the Louisville market. A one stop shop for the residential homeowner with regard to their total landscape needs.

With Paul’s oversight, Lawnco has enjoyed the reputation of being a dependable company that can operate daily without fear of breakdowns or time lost on the job. This had positioned the business to be a strong competitor in the Louisville market.

Stuart joined the Lawnco team in April 1989 and obtained his commercial pesticide applicators license at that time. Since then he has headed up the turf and ornamental care division of Lawnco. With as many years of turf and plant care experience here in the Ohio valley, Stuart’s knowledge base is vast. He takes pride in converting tired looking lawns into lush carpets of green to be the envy of the neighborhood. Beyond turf, he and his team provide outstanding care for ornamental trees and plants.

Stuart’s personal approach to service has made him an invaluable employee to our customers. He always takes the time to educate our customer and explain the science behind what we do.

Not only is Stuart a resource to our customers, he is also a resource to the turf care industry. Stuart is a point person for turf industry equipment development having tested prototype machines for seeding and turf applicators adding his “wishes” to the development list. He has been featured in turf equipment brochures as a contact for other competing turf care companies.

Originally born in Muncie, IN, Mike has lived in Goshen, KY since 1996. He too shares a similar background as Steve and Paul in that his early years included a love of working outdoors in green spaces.

His college career at Ball State University earned him a degree in Landscape Architecture and a Merit Award for excellence in the study of Landscape Architecture in 1991.

Mike brings experience in the design/build field to Lawnco as well as a resource network of complementary contractors to completely create outdoor living spaces well beyond simple gardenscapes. Some of Mike’s projects have included intimate garden spaces to elaborate community spaces. Mike is truly a versatile architect and an asset to the Lawnco team.

Samantha is the daughter of Steve and was raised here in Louisville with a life-long education in the family business. It was only natural that she attend and graduate from Western Kentucky University with her degree in Turf and Golf Course Management. That is where she became immersed in the biology behind the work that we do.

Since her graduation in 2012, she has obtained her commercial pesticide applicator’s license and has gone on to obtain her certification as a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture.

Samantha works with Stuart Hammack as in integral part of the management team behind our turf and tree care department. She is the next generation of Lawnco.
